Welcome to Ms. Boardman's Class

6th2

Green Forest R-2 is a Title I "school wide" school.  Students are provided extra help when needed by our Title I teachers.  If you feel your child needs extra help, please let me know.

Meet the Teacher

Welcome!

I’m excited about being back to school but know that it will be challenging with COVID still in the air.  I will do everything I can to make sure your children are safe and that their education is not compromised.

  • I was born in Ulm, Germany to a Croatian mother and an American soldier, but raised in the country between Salem and Licking, MO.

  • I went to Green Forest R-II for elementary and middle school and graduated as the Salutatorian of my 8th grade class.  My favorite teachers were Mrs. Jadwin (English) and Mr. Grauf (Science).  I then went on to graduate high school from Salem R-80.

  • I graduated from Missouri University of Science and Technology with my Bachelors of Science in 2010 and spent the next year teaching at the University.  After, I travelled aboard and taught English in Germany for three years.

  • Family is very important to me.  My two sisters and I are very close (we are all teachers).  Ms. Christine Boardman, my younger sister, is teaching Title Math this year.  This makes our collaboration constant and consistent.  My babies are my dogs, Sofy and Skyla. Your children will hear about them often in class.

  • When I am not teaching, I spend my time reading, singing in the choir, canoeing and hiking.  I, of course, try to travel as often and as far as I can.  Discovering and understanding new cultures is essential to a full life

As your child’s teacher, my door is always open for you. If you would like to discuss your child’s progress, please contact me.

Recess

(option for good behavior)

  • We will let our bodies wake up with a some physical activity in P.E. for a little exercise.  Next, we will start talking and using our advanced writing and reading skills in Language and Reading.

  • The first recess will not occur throughout the year. 6th grade is part of the transition from Elementary to High School. Rest assure there will always be a break of sorts between Lang./Reading and Math.

  • Study Hall will proceed lunch and recess followed by Science (my favorite).  The students will have time to finish incomplete work during Study Hall.  It is the perfect time to ensure they have no homework.

  •  The last part of the day will either be Social Studies or Math.  These days will vary depending on Social Studies projects and Math skill ability.  If the class has behaved for the day, they will get an extra recess as a treat.
** There are intermittent breaks to stretch our legs

Parent and Student Resources

In order to better engage in your child's learning, please visit the following websites for some things your family can do together:

Green Forest Healthy Kids Facebook Page - This page promotes the overall well-being of students and staff to make conscious decisions when it comes to daily exercise and healthy eating.

Read, Write, Think - This site has a variety of reading, writing, and language resources that students can utilize at home.

Grammar Book - Website is designed to help people with their grammar skills whether it be a school paper or a written correspondence, proper grammar is a necessity in today's competitive work fields (no purchase required, there are free online grammar usage definitions and examples posted).
