Green Forest Mustangs

Good Morning and Happy Friday Mustangs. We continue to have a great start of the year. I just wanted to take a moment to give some updates to some of the things our students have been up to so far this year.

Our 4th grade class attended beef days on Thursday this week. They did an awesome job on the trip. They got to learn about and meet all kinds of animals from high school FFA students.

4th and 5th grade basketball season was in full swing this week as they played three games. Their season concludes with a jamboree this coming Monday and Tuesday nights. The boys jamboree will take place on Monday 9/18 and the girls will play on Tuesday 9/19. We will be keeping the sliding gate at the bus entrance open throughout those evenings to allow for additional parking if needed.

The 8th grade class just finished up working on their marble rollercoasters. Students must build a marble roller coaster that demonstrates multiple physics principles and it must be a certain amount of time long.

The 3rd grade class has been spending time learning about life cycles and parts of plants in science. They have planted a variety of plants around their classroom and the school to see the differences in the way that they grow in different environments.

All classes got to enjoy a custard treat this week to celebrate another year of high achievement on the MAP tests that were taken last spring. Statewide and district data is starting to be released. This data undergoes an embargo period that allows districts to appeal any irregularities. This just means that it is available to us but not yet made available publicly. It will all become public very soon and we are excited to be able to share another year of great success at the Forest.

Thank you once again for all of your support. Getting back into the swing of things after summer can be hard for our students. We strive to provide a rigorous education and we have high expectations of our students. Your child's achievement is improved and aided by schools and families working in cooperation. We are excited about some upcoming family engagement activities that we are currently planning. Be looking for more information on those activities. As always, please continue to make reading a priority in your home. Have your children read to you or read to your child. The impact on their education by simply reading one book a night with your child can be huge.

Go Mustangs!!
