The Green Forest R-II School District recently conducted our required lead and copper in drinking water testing. The Safe Drinking Water Act requires these tests to be completed and for the results of the tests to be made public. Information about how to read the results can be found below. The results of our testing can be viewed here. We are also required to post an informational sheet about the effects of lead in drinking water and that document can be found here. These documents are always available on our website and can be found by clicking on the menu in the top right corner of the page, then the documents link, and open up the Family Resources folder.
Understanding the Results:
The first page of the results document shows the tested lead and copper concentration at the tested locations. It is important to know that the action level for copper is 1300 parts per billion or ppb and the action level for lead is 15 ppb. Any reading less than these numbers is considered safe by the EPA.
All tested outlets at Green Forest tested well below the action levels for both copper and lead. The exact numbers for the tested outlets can be found on the document linked above. The district did receive grant money a couple of years ago to install lead and copper in-line filters at all drinking stations and continues to keep the filters updated and in proper working order. Student health and safety is always a top priority for the district.
If you have any questions about the testing please contact the office.
